Pediatric Weight & Wellness Program
Compassionate, evidence-based care for children and adolescents with overweight and obesity — personalized nutrition and activity goals with behavioral support, following current AAP recommendations.
Our Pediatric Weight & Wellness program supports children and adolescents living with overweight and obesity, following current American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations.
Care is built around your family: we set personalized nutrition and activity goals, talk through what is realistic at home, and follow up regularly so progress is supported rather than judged.
What to expect
- A longer first visit to understand your child’s history, routines and goals
- Growth and health screening appropriate to your child’s age
- Practical nutrition and activity planning for your household
- Behavioral support, and referrals when they would help
- Regular follow-up visits to adjust the plan
A family-centered approach
Evaluation
A thorough evaluation for weight-related health concerns, so we understand your child's whole picture before setting any goals.
Nutrition & activity goals
Personalized nutrition and physical activity goals that fit your family's routine — not a one-size-fits-all plan.
Behavioral support
Ongoing behavioral support to help families make realistic, lasting changes together.
For eligible adolescents, medication treatment may also be considered when appropriate — always as part of the same family-centered plan, and always a conversation with you.
Not just weight — your child's overall health, confidence, and well-being
Weight is one number. What we are really working toward is a child who feels good, has energy for the things they love, and grows up with habits that last. Because the program lives inside your child's regular pediatric care, every visit builds on a team that already knows them.
Emotional health is part of the picture too — when it helps, we coordinate with our in-house Behavioral & Mental Health team.

Our YMCA Fitness Partnership
At Chandler Pediatrics, we believe healthy weight management includes more than medical care and nutrition guidance. Regular physical activity can help children build strength, develop confidence, and establish healthy habits they can carry into the future.
That’s why we’ve partnered with the YMCA to create a weekly fitness class exclusively for Chandler Pediatrics patients, offered at a specially subsidized rate. This partnership gives our families an affordable way to incorporate structured, age-appropriate physical activity into their child’s wellness routine.
Designed for children and teens ages 10–17, YMCA Teen Fitness Hour features strength training, agility exercises, and engaging group activities led by YMCA fitness professionals. Participants can stay active, learn new skills, and exercise in a welcoming, supportive environment.
As part of our comprehensive Weight & Wellness Program, this class offers children an encouraging place to move, grow stronger, and build confidence at their own pace.
